Do you find yourself with a relatives stamp collection? Here is some good information for you when you are ready to look to do something with the Stamp Collection.
- First, We want to say we are sorry for your loss. There is no rush to do anything so you should take your time when deciding what you want to do with the collection.
- Be sure you store the collection safely until you are ready. Keep it in a cool/dry place, water and insect free and be sure any albums are upright.
- When you are ready to start deciding what to do, you will need to determine the value. Look for instructions, inventory list, appraisal and insurance policy which will all help you in determining the value. Then:
- Contact a Local Dealer
- Visit a local Stamp Show
- Pay for an appraisal (if a Dealer recommends it)
- After you have done your your homework now it’s time to decide how to go forward. Some options are:
- Keep the collection and start collecting yourself (we love this option!!!)
- Give them to a relative that will continue the collections (another great choice!)
- Donate them to a local stamp club like the Greater Mound City Stamp Club
- Sell them to a Local Dealer
- Sell them on eBay or HipStamp
- Make stamp art
